Abstract

Climate change hasa huge impact for tobacco in Jember Regency. This study aims to determine 1) the level of productivity of tobacco on field and moor in Jember Regency; 2) the wayadaptation that has beentaken bytobaccofarmersto face theclimatechange 3) The correlation of adaptation by tobacco farmers toward the levelof productivity of tobaccoo field and moor. The method used in this research is a mixed qualitative and quantitative methods. The result shows1) productivity of tobacco on moor is 1.4 tons/ha and on moor is 1.2 ton/ha, 2) The adaptations of tobacco farmers to the face of climate change are; planting schedule planning, determination and prediction of weather, increasethe capital, changes in tillage techniques, change inputs, changes in the number of labor, anticipation droughts and heavy rainfall, 3) Adaptation that has significant correlation to productivity tobacco farmers on moor is the determination and prediction of weather, changes in tillage techniques, changes in the number of labor and anticipation of high rainfall. Abstract

This research aims to know the: income disparity between the palm sugar craftsmen using the sap-sharing system and sugar-sharing system, factors that affect the income of palm sugar craftsmen, and palm sugar craftsmen income contribution on family income. The location of the research is determined by purposive method in the Lojejer Village Wuluhan Subdistrict Jember Regency. The research method used is descriptive method, comparative and analytical. Sampling method used is Disproportionate Stratified Random Sampling method. The Data used are the primary data and secondary data. Data analysis used in this study are:income analysis (π = TR – TC), multiple linear regression analysis (Y = a + b1X1 + b2X2 + b3X3 + b4X4 + b5X5 + b6 D + e), and proportions analysis (p = Pw/Pd x 100%). The results of this research indicate: (1) there are differences in palm sugar craftsmen income using the sap-sharing and sugar-sharing system. (2) factors that significantly influence to the income of palm sugar craftsmen using the sharing system the Lojejer Village Wuluhan Subdistrict Jember Regency, are: fuel costs (Rp), additional material costs (Rp), the selling price (Rp), the amount of production (Kg), labor (Rp), and the sharing system being used, (3) palm sugar craftsmens income contributions on family income in the Lojejer Village Wuluhan Subdistrict Jember Regency is medium, with a value of contribution revenue 69,53%.   Keywords: palm sugar, craftsmens, sharing system, income

Abstract

Mount Baung Natural Park is one of the conservation areas in East Java, to reduce encroachment by the public, the government holds community empowerment. This study aims to determine: the motivation of people in the area of empowerment; Socio-economic factors that affect the motivation of people in the areas in implementing empowerment programs; Strategies undertaken to empower communities in the areas. The research method uses a descriptive and analytic. Descriptive data analysis tools uses Likert scale, multiple linear regression and analysis of FFA. The results shows that the motivation of people on community development programsis high while the motivation of people on elephant grass in the Mount Baung Natural Park is low, socio-economic factors that influence on the motivation of people in the areas in implementing empowerment programs are age (years) , revenue (Rp), and the number of dependents (soul). While the factors that do not affect significantly are the education (years) and land area (m2). Strategies that can be done is: rehabilitate some areas of Mount Baung Natural Park that has been already degraded with labor-intensive methods and design tour packages which are capable of absorbing the local community as labor (tour guide) for tourists and researchers. Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the effect of the transformational leadership toward Gapoktan independence. This study is a descriptive research, which is a type of research that aims to describe something. The analysis in this study is done by combining the quantitative approach that is supported by qualitative approach.The results showed that there are significant effect of transformational leadership against the Gapoktan independence. It is based on statistical tests were performed with simple linear regression. The above results confirm the contribution of the transformational leadership in support for Gapoktan independence realization. The implication is the extent to which the leader can actualize values in transformational leadership, then it will have an impact on the realization of Gapoktan independence. Abstract

The study aims to determine the performance of processed food industry based on cassava flour viewed from its characteristics which cover business orientation, growth process, business development, production process, technology, and efforts to fulfilling the resources; as well as the development strategy. The study was conducted in district of Malang and Trenggalek, were selected intentionally (purposive sampling).The industry based on cassava flavour is determined by Data Based Triangulation. The research sample is determined by Snowball Sampling. The results showed that the processed food industry based on cassava flour which is growing in Malang and Trenggalek is mocaf cracker industry and mocaf sticks. The industry characteristics are: product-oriented, process grows on the basis of excess commodities that are not optimally used, have the capital, has the experience, and have confidence in the ability to take advantage of these commodities; business development is indicated by the growth of the asset; production process is easy and quick; simple technology; and the easy supply of resources. On the basis of the identification of 11 driver factors and 13 inhibiting factors, the development strategy are to optimize the utilization of local producers of cassava flour that involving the government, businesses, local communities, organizations and local institutions to develop the processed food industry based on cassava flour. Abstract

Horticulture are now seeded Jember government is durian, orange, mangosteen, corn, watermelon, etc. This commodity is technically feasible to be developed, in terms of economic benefit and socially acceptable to the local community. But in fact in the field of commodity value in the form of price and productivity are still low. This is due to the marketing of these commodities is still traditional, the lack of touch technology infrastructure both on farm and off farm causing farmers to become weak bargaining position. people is likely to deceive the people. In the future development of the agricultural sector is still encountered some obstacles, particularly in the development of farming systems based agribusiness and agro-industries. Location of the study determined (purposive) in Jember is the region / district that has the potential to be developed as a superior horticultural commodities. The form to be used in this study is a descriptive case study strategy. Results indicate that the fulfillment of the financing needs of farmers farming done creatively by combining source - a source of financing that can be reached like banks, cooperatives, traders or the relatives/friends. SWOT analysis results show the value of IFAS and EFAS 2,65 to 2,40, which means having a prospective opportunity to develop and possess the competence to do it. Abstract

This research is aimed to analyze (1) the characteristics of the mangrove farmers at Untung Jawa island, Seribu archipelago, and (2) characteristics of the innovations. This study used a survey method for data collection. The study population was a whole group of farmers who cultivated mangrove at Untung Jawa island, Seribu archipelago. Samples taken was 15 people by a simple random method. Data collected consisted of primary and secondary data which were analyzed by descriptive statistics to identity the performance characteristics of farmers mangrove communities at Untung Jawa island and the characteristics of the innovations. The characteristics of the community members involved in this study include (1) age, (2) education, (3) motivation, (4) family income, (5) the courage to take risk, (6) the level of participation in the group/organization, (7) activity on searching information and new ideas. Meanwhile, innovation characteristics include (1) relative advantage, (2) compatibility, (3) complexity, (4) trialability, and (5) observability. The results indicated that respondents who cultivate mangrove were mostly categorized as young, having primary school education, having a short period of farming, motivated to increase revenue, having the lowest income levels, having  the courage to take risk, getting  the information from the instructor or group leader. For the characteristics of the innovations, most respondents said that the application of cultivation of mangrove has enough profit to add their insights and income, in accordance with the requirements of innovation and the needs of the growing plants, innovation mangrove planting technique is not difficult, it is simple and easy to learn by all respondents, cultivating innovation easy to try, and innovation mangrove cultivation is easy to be observed.
